Characteristics of language in epileptic children

This study tried to evaluate syntactic and semantic structure of the language in 29 epileptic children (generalised - absence (11), mioclonic (4) and temporal lobe epilepsy (14) of the known and unknown origin. Their IQ was above 85 and they showed no aphasic disorders. Results of this examination are as follow. epilepsy leads to language disorders in syntactic and semantic processes which are similar to disorders observed in frontal lobe dysfunction and in dyslexic children.
