University roles in university-industry co-operation

摘要
Exchange relationships between universities and industry can take place in various kinds of organisational arrangements. What is common, between different arrangements is, that they all require, to a varying degree, a deviation from the traditional, often secluded role to more proactive one. Through cooperative arrangements a university can expand its funding base from public funding to market income. In order to successfully utilise co-operative arrangements a university must have, in addition to the competence for technological advancement and innovation, the organisational approach to create market value and a strategy that internally promotes co-operation. Exchange relationships between industry can take place in This paper examines the various organisational arrangements of university-industry relations, the different roles universities have in different cooperative arrangements and university strategy requirements that follow these roles using the organisational exchange theories.
