Research of Low-Carbon Mode and on Limestone Addition Instead of Lime in the BOF Steelmaking

摘要
A new low-carbon converter steelmaking model in which limestone is utilized instead of lime for slagging is described. During this new steelmaking model, not only large amount of resource and energy were cut down, but also plenty of dust and CO(2) were also decreased. In addition, the furnace gas with low CO concentration, which is not recovered in the present converter steelmaking process, is taken into account to be blown into the converter again as a kind of bottom-feeding gas to produce more CO enriched gas which is up to the standard to be recycled. The research of this new process has been conducted in laboratory for a long time, and the industrial experiments were successfully conducted as well. This new steelmaking model is worth popularizing, because it can bring enormous environmental and economical benefits to our society.
