摘要
The failure of the actual urban systems is well represented by the dramatic situation of the Italian contemporary cities, characterised by an excessive consumption of energy and other resources, and by the enormous production of any kind of wastes. The territory is mainly organised suiting commercial and financial finalities, while the need of social areas is largely neglected. The high density of buildings allows realising lively cities on limited earth surfaces, but the city management and qualification remain the only instruments to avoid chaotic expansion. The elaboration of an ecosystem, on these bases, is clearly a complex process that cannot correspond, in every aspects, to the schematic criteria of the general Master plan, but should nevertheless respect the historical, social and urban peculiarities which characterised places ranging from the little district to the metropolis.
