摘要
In this paper, small-crack growth behavior of 7075-T73 forged aluminum alloy under constant-amplitude (CA) and a block spectrum (BS) loading was investigated experimentally. The results showed that under CA loading, classic small-crack effects were found. The small-crack effects were more pronounced for the negative stress ratio tests. The small-crack effects were not found for the BS loading. The FASTRANII code was used to predict small-crack growth behavior and fatigue lives for single-edge-notch-tension (SENT) specimens under the CA and BS loading and fatigue lives for unnotched specimens under the CA loading. Almost all of the predictions agreed well with the test results. However, the initial defect size used for the unnotched specimen predictions was different from the one used for the SENT specimen predictions. This was discussed and attributed to a size effect.
