Mediastinoscopic extended thymectomy using sternum lifting method

We performed a mediastinoscopic extended thymectomy on two patients suffering from myasthenia gravis without thymoma The merit of this technique is that an extended thymectomy can be achieved without a midline sternotomy, and also that this is applicable to pleurodesis cases which are difficult to operate on thoracoscopically. And mediascopic surgery using sternum lifting method is usuful for anterior mediastinal tumors.
