Utilisation off XRD for the determination of the size distribution of nanocrystalline iron materials

摘要
Iron of average crystallite sizes 17 and 32 run was obtained and were subjected to the nitriding reaction. A series of samples with different degrees of conversion of Fe to Fe4N were produced. The XRD analysis demonstrated that the dependence of the average crystallite size, both for the reactant and product, on the conversion degree exhibits an increasing tendency. Based on this dependence a new method for the determination of size distribution was successfully developed.
