摘要
This paper is to study the differences on body image satisfaction between the undergraduates of sports major and non-sports major m Zhejiang Normal University by sample survey methodology The Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire is adopted Height and weight are measured as the main analytic materials of bodily form Besides major, gender is also taken as a perspective to that study The results indicate that there are significant sex differences on body satisfaction and significant major differences on body image, especially on appearance orientation In the aspect of body parts satisfaction, significant sex differences have been observed on upper torso, weight tone, mid torso and overall body, significant major differences have been observed on height and lower torso, however, neither sex differences nor major differences have been observed on face, hair and muscle tone Remarkably, those variables, having no significant sex differences or major differences, present themselves in such a trend sports majors get higher scores than non-sports major and males get higher scores than females From the social comparison theory s point of view, the paper aims to give suggestions on how to improve one's body image, one of the important impact factors upon people s metal health
