摘要
This paper studies the spall behaviors below and above shock-induced polymorphic phase transition in iron including the free surface velocity profiles and the number and the thickness of spall layers using a mathematical model based on a 2-D hydrodynamic code. The numeric simulations were in good agreement with the experimental tests, and indicated that spall damage properties were strongly affected by the phase transition. The results suggested that the proposed model could be well used to investigate dynamic response of iron to shock loading.
