摘要
Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) have been prepared using chromic oxide as the catalyst on nickel substrate by a facile flame. Chromic oxide nanoparticles with average diameter of about 8-10 nm formed from the decomposition of chromium nitrate in flame, which catalyzed the anisotropic growth of MWCNTs in situ. The products were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction technique, scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy and high-resolution microscopy as well as thermogravimetric analysis. The observed MWCNTs have diameters of 10-30 inn and the length is about several micrometers with some defective graphite sheets. The MWCNT formation mechanism was discussed on the base of the TEM observations.
