How will SARS impact on Chinese real estate sector?

This paper analyzes influences of SARS to Chinese real estate sector in the short and long term. First features of real estate sector in face of impacts from SARS are introduced, and then short run shocks for Chinese real estate sector and the real estate market in Beijing are analyzed separately. After that impacts from SARS to Chinese real estate sector in the long run are analyzed and forecasted, which shows that real estate sector faces not only challenges but also opportunities in the long range, though SARS temporarily impacted to nationwide real estate development activities in the short run, especially greatly impacted to real estate markets in hardest-hit cities like Beijing. The conclusion shows that SARS does not require an immediate downward revision of Chinese real estate outlook, and in a word, people should refrain from being too sad about the potential impact from SARS.
