Preliminary experiments have been conducted to study the feasibility of using the magnetoresistance property of Tl1Ba2Ca2Cu3Ox (Tl-1223) high-T-c superconductor (HTS) for magnetic field sensor applications. The I-ITS film]las been successfully electroplated and patterned using photolithography. The effect of magnetic field (H) on the R-T behavior of the patterned T1-1223 HTS was investigated at temperatures near its T-c. The magnetoresistance behavior R (H,T) in the temperature range of 100 K - 105 K was tested for magnetic fields up to 0.5T. It is found that the magnetoresistance effect is more significant at temperatures very close to T-c and the Tl1Ba2Ca2Cu3Ox (T1-1223) high-T-c superconductor (HTS) is not very suitable for weak magnetic field detection because of its low magnetoresistance in low magnetic field. Other types of the HTS need to be investigated for such an application.
