摘要
This paper uses patent citations to measure international diffusion of technological knowledge. It finds that diffusion is enhanced by physical and technological proximity and by sharing a common language.. While FDI is positively associated with diffusion, trade facilitates diffusion only when countries' inventions are similarly distributed across technical fields. (c) 2004 Elsevier B.V.
