Oscillating bright solitons in a potential trap for Bose-Einstein condensates

摘要：
It is shown that a bright soliton in a spatially nonuniform potential trap for one dimensional Bose-Einstein condensates executes periodic oscillations. Expressions for the soliton oscillation frequency in different types of potential traps are obtained. Oscillating bright solitons may open possibilities for future applications in coherent atomic optics, atom soliton laser, atom transport, atom interferometry, and very accurate atomic clocks.
