摘要
A Monte Carlo simulation is performed for study of the dependence of kinetic electron emission on nuclear charge of projectile Z(1), using the nonlinear response theory with the density-functional (DF) formalism to calculate electron excitation cross section. The calculated electron yield as well as the inelastic stopping power show clear Z(1) oscillations, however, the oscillation of the yield is suppressed, in particular for high Z(1), due to large elastic energy loss of the ions and cascade process of primary excited electrons within the solid; the former and the latter becomes remarkable for slow and high ion velocity, respectively. The energy distribution of emitted electrons is approximately independent of Z(1) due to mainly the electron cascade process in the solid, whereas the increase in energy of primary excited electrons causes the distribution to broaden towards high-energy side with increasing projectile velocity.
