摘要
Consumption is a privileged avenue for the study of global and transnational history. Here we study the historiographical path that has been taken on this subject. First, we analyze commodity histories as the first example of global history. Secondly, we take into account the works that, in this perspective, have been developed from pre-colonial history to post-independence. Third, it investigates the relationship between modernity and transnational studies in spheres such as advertising and department stores. Fourth, the article focuses on consumer culture, consumerism and globalization. Finally, emphasis is placed on the most recent studies on the subject, which grant agency to consumers in a globalized world.
