A Web-enabled spatial Data Visualization and Decision support system

Most of the currently available Web enabled planning tools allow the user to simply query and display information, but lack sophisticated data analysis and decision support. This paper develops a Web-enabled Data Visualization and Decision support system (WebDVD) for decision-makers and the public in Boone County, Missouri. WebDVD has been designed and developed under a client/server architecture using ArcView Internet Map Server (AvIMS). It provides agencies and organizations with the capacity to access interactively display and query a wealth of spatial and non-spatial data, and to perform advanced Web based decision-making. The method used to develop WebDVD is simple and cost effective and could serve as a model for other applications.
