摘要
For the optimum use of titanium alloys and titanium metal matrix composites (MMCs) as structural materials, the disadvantage of high producer prices has to be overcome by engaging a manufacturing process, i.e. cold extrusion, which saves high price material (net shape forming) and improves the properties of the components produced: These are high accuracy, excellent surface quality, improved hardness by strain hardening, and good fatigue properties. The following metals were tested by the basic cold extrusion processes: TiAl6V4 (grade 5), TiV13Cr11Al3 (UCA), TiAl3V8Cr6Mo4Zr4 (B-C) and the two MMCs Ti 99.9 + 10% TiC and TiAl6V4+10% TIC. For comparison purposes, extrusion experiments were carried out with Ti 99.9 (grade 1) and the austenitic stainless steel X2CrNiMo1812 (AISI, TP, 316 L).
