摘要
Museums and galleries worldwide start implementing knowledge management tools and techniques into their internal processes in order to make them more open both internally and externally. Our article discusses using digital technologies to strengthen an emerging role of museums in the 21st century, their ability to guide people in the visual chaos they live in, to educate and to mentor their perception about the hidden qualities of our cultural heritage. Slovakian museums and galleries are rarely perceived as technologically developed, inspiring and modern information centers. To demonstrate the opposite, we present the Slovak National Gallery's Web of Art not only as a collection of digitalized masterpieces but also as a base for a contemporary creativity advancement. In particular, Cultural Hackhathon (a "hacker's marathon") will be shown as an example of a symbiosis between traditional and contemporary art.
