System simulates monopulse target returns

摘要
RADAR systems, such as the monopulse Mode S secondary surveillance radar (SSR), provide comprehensive information based on return signals fi om an illuminated target. Evaluation of these complex systems I requires precise control of simulated signals in order to mimic the characteristics of reflected RF pulses. The RF Target Simulator Subsystem (RFTSS) hom Freestate Electronics, Inc. (Warrenton, VA) is designed to provide this type of precise signal simulation as part of the Aircraft Reply Interference Environment Simulator (ARIES) test system. The RFTSS works with the ARIES testbed to create realistic target-signal scenarios, thus fully exercising the receive or sensor portion of a Mode S radar system.
