摘要
The recent publication of the book Saberes transatlanticos is viewed as the consolidation of an urban history of science. To test the novelty of the "spatial turn" in the urban history of science, technology and medicine the article first discusses the historical appearance of the spatial variable as a key constituent factor in urban history. The different chapters of the text are then reviewed in detail. As a complementary contribution, the article presents some references on transnational urban history that aim to enrich an urban history less attentive to the city itself and its national context than to relations with other cities in a transnational framework. There has been a special interest by the authors to present relevant urban historiography written in Latin languages, traditionally ignored in urban and transnational urban history. The final aim is thinking about the construction of a relational urban history.
