摘要
Femtosecond UV pulses at the fourth harmonic of Nd:glass laser radiation (lambda = 264 nm) were used to generate nonlinear absorption measurement in three types of commercial fused silica and one crystalline quartz sample. The two-photon absorption (TPA) coefficient values for fused silica depend on the type and vary between 1.5 +/- 0.1 x 10(-11) and 2.3 +/- 0.2 x 10(-11) cm W-1. For crystalline quartz a noticeably smaller value of 9.1 +/- 0.9 x 10(-12) cm W-1 was obtained. All TPA coefficient values have been determined with much higher accuracy than before.
