An Analysis on the Relationship between Speed Changes and Density Changes

Although most previous studies have dealt with speed, flow, and density in their original forms to understand their relationships and to apply them as inputs in freeway operating performance evaluations, this current study employed the changes of consecutive speeds and densities in a 15-min. interval basis and performed a simple regression analysis to examine how much the change of one traffic parameter could influence the change of another.
