摘要
Today due to the rapid development of digital economy the demand of customers for more data and the content of high bandwidth is fueling the surge in Data Center business. The consumption of energy by the Data Centers is surprisingly increasing from the past several years. There is no standard metric categorization framework defined which can be applied to Data Center to analyze its performance in terms of its energy consumption. This paper proposes the need of good metric and the criteria which a metric should fulfil to be a better metric than existing metrics. A clear schematic framework is shown in Fig. 1, which It clearly categorizes the existing metrics into a standard framework and also some metrics are proposed such as carbon emissions, energy intensity, Total cost ownership and uptime downtime cost which should also be considered while evaluating the performance efficiency of the Data Centers.
