Synthesis of α-MoO3 Nanorods by Sol Gel Synthesis and To Investigate Its Room Temperature Humidity Sensing Properties

摘要
The metal oxide nonmaterial is potential candidates for sensor applications. The molybdenum oxide found many applications from electronic devices to energy storage devices. Molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) nanorods was synthesized by sol-gel synthesis and structurally characterized by XRD and SEM techniques. The X-ray diffraction confirms the formation of crystalline alpha-MoO3. The SEM images confirm the formation of alpha-MoO3 nanorods having a 2-8 mu m length. The humidity sensing properties of alpha-MoO3 nanorods were studied in the range of 10- 97% RH. The pellet form alpha-MoO3 humidity sensor device is exposed to different RH levels. The alpha-MoO3 shows excellent response time of 40 s and as well as recovery time of 5 s at room temperature. These results indicate that, alpha-MoO3 nano structure humidity sensor can be used as a potential device for industrial applications.
