摘要
Introduction: Obesity has been growing on a large scale, with the onset of studies on pathologies associated with the disease. These studies aim to comprehensively understand the pathophysiology of such pathologies. Objective: To investigate musculoskeletal disorders in morbidly obese patients in the preoperative period of bariatric surgery. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out with 60 subjects, using the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ) and pain evaluation by the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) of pain in several joints. Results: the predominant gender was female, with a mean age of 40.87 +/- 11.83. The average percentage of body fat found was 53.07%; the mean percentage of lean mass was 20.96%; the mean BMI obtained was 44.77 kg / m(2); the visceral fat index was 12.30%; the mean body age found was 71.35 years; and the mean basal metabolic rate (BMR) was 1931.67 kcal. The result obtained with NQM was that the region with the highest presence of symptoms is the elbow, with 90.3 +/- 56% in the last twelve months; 88.7 +/- 55% in the last seven days; and 88.7 +/- 55% due to work impediments in the last twelve months. Conclusion: musculoskeletal disorders and comorbidities in obese pre-bariatric patients presented a high percentage, with a higher frequency of Metabolic Syndrome and Diabetes Mellitus. The pain in the wrists / hands and elbows was the most prevalent complaint.
