Empirical Analysis of Industry Growth and Profitability of Listed Companies of A-share in Shanghai Stock Market

Industry is an important aspect between macro economy and listed companies, and growth and profitability is the core of industry development. The listed companies of Shanghai securities market were classified by Industry in this paper, and an evaluation system about industry growth and profitability was established. An empirical research of each Industry's profitability and future growth has been taken, and the results show that communication industry's comprehensive score of growth is highest, following by financial and mining, and agriculture, and forestry and petrochemical industry' scores are much lower, and the lowest is carrying industry; and food industry has highest comprehensive score of profitability, following by service, communication and mining, and wholesale and retail industry, building industry and textile industry have much lower scores, and the lowest is pharmaceutical industry. The study results can be as basis for different market participants to make decision.
