摘要
In today's globalization world, society is facing unprecedented challenges posed by the needs of urbanization and mobility. Such challenges become even more acute when exacerbated by strong exogenous shocks, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, as they collapse everyday life activities and lead to further imbalances in socio-economic systems. Resilience of such systems and their readiness to mitigate the risks is heavily reliant on their preparedness and willingness to switch to alternative functioning modes. That is of special importance for education sector. This article aims at identifying the driving forces of successful transition to remote learning while keeping the academic motivation of engineering students. The research explores pros and cons of distant learning technologies and highlights the key challenges for its future incorporation in the engineering education sector.
