摘要：
Migration studies have just begun to take cognisance of the gender dimension in migration. Most studies highlight women's contribution to the household in any pattern of migration. The present paper attempts to elucidate the relationship of the type of migration and factors determining women's work participation, earnings and mobility. The urban experience of women according to age and stage in the life cycle, has also been covered.
