摘要
Modern power system operate under constrained settings due to insufficient generation and transmission capacities. Availability of reactive power in the system plays an important role in maintaining voltage stability. Secure and reliable operation of the system greatly depends on adequate supply of reactive power. In deregulated power system, the reactive power must be procured judiciously to minimize the cost of the system. This paper proposed a new technique for procurement of reactive power using Biogeography-based Optimization (BBO) for power flow. The results are analyzed and compared with literature papers. The proposed method is tested on IEEE-30 bus system and it is performed in MATLAB programming environment.
