Fixed-time consensus based distributed economic generation control in a smart grid

摘要
This paper presents a distributed economic generation control (DEGC) strategy for smart grid. First, a distributed economic dispatch algorithm, which minimizes the total generation cost while guaranteeing supply-demand balance constraint and generation capacity constraints, is presented to calculate the optimal operation point (OOP). Lyapunov method based stability analysis shows that the presented algorithm achieves optimal dispatch within a fixed settling time, which is irrespective of initial conditions of the system, even though the system is affected by unknown but bounded disturbances. Based on the OOP, the local power controller of each generator is designed such that the active power outputs of generators track the OOP and the frequency of the power grid is maintained at the nominal value. Finally, numerical simulations in MATLAB/Simulink are presented to illustrate the effectiveness and superiority of the presented DEGC strategy.
