Three phase generalised power theory for the measurement of powers in an electric power system

摘要
The deficiencies of present power measurement definitions and techniques in the presence of harmonies is a known problem. As a solution to this problem, a new Three Phase Power Theory, which decomposes the instantaneous power into active and non-active instantaneous power, is proposed. With good knowledge of the active/non-active power components an accurate measurement especially of the non-active component is achieved. Also this non-active component can be utilised to achieve better compensation. The theory is evaluated for linear and nonlinear loads in the presence of harmonics with a case study. Results of case study and analysis of the results demonstrate good performance of the proposed theory.
