Vacuum brazing of TiB2 cermet to TiAl-based alloys using Ag-Cu-Zn filler metal

摘要
Vacuum brazing of TiB2 cermet to TiAl-based alloy was carried out at 1 223 K for 5 - 30 min using AgCu-Zn filler metal. The microstructural analyses indicate that three reaction products, Ti(Cu, Al)(2), Ag-Cu eutectic and Ag based solid solution (Ag(s. s)), are present in the brazing seam. The experimental results show that the shear strength of the brazed TiB2/TiAl joints decreases as the brazing time increases at a definite brazing temperature, it is up to 168 MPa when the joint is brazed at 1 223 K for 5 min.
