Multi-QoS mobile services guaranteed resource allocation with effective capacity

One of the key characteristics for today's networks is their ability to serve diversified mobile services with different quality of service (QoS) requirements. But the existing resource allocation mainly consider single metric such as bandwidth to guarantee QoS. In order to take more metrics into consideration, this paper proposes a multi-QoS mobile services guaranteed resource allocation scheme with effective capacity (EC). Firstly, we formulate the EC based utility function by combining unified utility function with EC. The unified utility function describes the trend of utility with resource changes. The EC with the QoS exponent ? is used to represent the requirements of delay and packet loss ratio. Then, in order to maximize the utility, we optimize the EC of best effort users, while guaranteeing the EC of QoS users. To make the problem more tractable, we adopt simplified method and solve it with subgradient method. Finally, simulation results show that our proposed algorithm achieves superior performances for multi-QoS mobile services system.
