摘要：

Some new ethyl 2-[3-aryl-5-methyl-4-oxo-3,4-dihydro thieno [2,3-d] pyrimidin-2-yloxy] acetates (3a-e) were synthesized by a convenient method involving reaction of ethyl 2-amino-4-methylthiophene-3 carboxylate with aryl isocyanates followed by insitu cyclization in aq sodium hydroxide. All the compounds synthesized were characterized on the basis of their IR, (1)H NMR and mass spectral data and screened for their antimicrobial activity.
