摘要
Rising volatility in globally distributed supply networks leads to an increasing need of supply chain event management. Event driven control requires sensor -based, real-time quality data. The article presents necessary capabilities of sensors and sensor networks to realize such event -driven control mechanisms. Based on a failure modes and effect analysis of automotive supply chains, the sensor requirements are identified and discussed. A discrete event simulation evaluates the effects of quality data for event-driven control. In addition to the real-time ability, further capabilities regarding communication, energy, granularity, identification and data storage are identified. The derived capabilities are the basis to develop event -driven architectures. 2018 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.
