摘要
The Gran Sasso National Laboratory (LNGS) of the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN), the Italian governmental authority for nuclear physics, is the biggest underground physics laboratory in the world. The Laboratory is located inside the left motorway tunnel crossing the Gran Sasso mountain in the motorway connecting Rome to Teramo in central part of Italy. The physics experiments run inside the underground laboratory request the use of considerable quantity of flammable and other dangerous materials that in case of an accident could pose hazards also for the highway users. This situation requires that detailed safety analyses have to be carried out in order to, evaluate the risk associated to the experimental activities and to new plants that will be installed in the Laboratory. In this paper we present the results of HAZOP analysis of the prototype plant of ICARUS experiment. The analysis was carry out to avoid the problems linked to a leak of cryogenic liquids in one of the main hall of the Laboratory.
