The process of planning for an Intelligent Tutoring System

We present in this paper the whole process of planning for an Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS). This process combines the different planning stages inspired by the general planning in Artificial Intelligence with a well-known education theory. The proposed approach allows a course designer to encapsulate pedagogical dependent expertise into each learning objective and associated resources while keeping the knowledge classification general enough for domain independent planning, even at the session level. We also define a session structure that is common to all teaching sessions in which some specific events and resources can be used and matched to target-public features.
