摘要
Digital communication has proven its advantages in high voltage substations from bay control and protection up to the telecommunication interface. One of the most driving components in the field of substation automation is the usability of the industrial Ethernet. Any information once introduced to the electronic system can be made available at any location of the digital network through digital communication. The enlarged digital area in substations offers wide ranges and easy adjustment of parameters for an improved fitness of the investment for future demands. The extraordinary high requirements regarding availability and reliability of such a communication system have to be secured with equally important functions of the substations now depending on this communication. The IEC Technical Committee specifies real time Ethernet protocols as IEC 617842 made for factory applications, and applicable for process bus applications.
