Seed production potential of white clover populations growing under different light conditions

Seed set/floret in white clover was determined in populations growing tinder different light conditions. The study revealed that the ovule count as well as seed set was more in lower or first formed florets than in tipper florets. The populations of white clover growing tinder three light conditions were studied. The maximum seed set was observed in populations growing in partial shade. However, the present study emphasizes that ovule sterility, lack of pollination and post-fertilization abortion are responsible for law seed set in white clover.
