摘要：
Mean characteristics of the humus status of the most common soil types of the Russian Federation are represented. The fractional and group composition of soil humus of all natural zones on plains is discussed. The analysis and systematization of data on soil humus status makes it possible to reveal some general regularities that are governed by basic principles and rules of humification. It is suggested that the indices of soil humus status should be used as criteria for the evaluation of Russia's land fund.
