Pyogenic sacroiliitis with iliopsoas abscess: An unusual cause of hyperthermia in a paraplegic patient

We described a case of pyogenic sacroiliitis with iliopsoas abscess as a rare cause of hyperthermia in spinal cord injury patients. pseudomonas aeruginosa was isolated from abscess liquid culture obtained by CT-guided aspiration. The patient had a flap coverage for sacral pressure ulcer six months before. We postulated that Pseudomonas aeruginosa colonized the eschar and, due to the proximity, infected the sacroiliac joint and the adjacent iliopsoas muscle. Prompt intravenous antibiotic therapy ensured clinical improvement and radiological regression.
