摘要
Based on DEA-Malmquist productivity index, we estimate the total factor energy efficiency of the Yangtze River Delta region by using the Yangtze River Delta region's energy consumption and economic growth data from 1992 to 2008. Then, we decompose the changes in energy efficiency and find the energy efficiency trends. The empirical results show that the Yangtze River Delta region, due to technological progress and technical efficiency, pulls together all the elements of energy efficiency. On the time dimension, the total factor energy efficiency in the Yangtze River Delta shows a W pattern. The highest point is in the period of 1997-1998 and 2006-2007. On the regional dimension, the city which has the highest total factor energy efficiency is Shanghai, followed by Jiangsu and Zhejiang.
