摘要
The study examined whether the relationship between spirituality and subjective well-being is mediated by sense of coherence. Previous research suggested that the relationship can be indirect and include psychosocial mediators. The underlying assumption was that spirituality and sense of coherence are imbued with significance and meaning and therefore could have stronger relations with the cognitive dimension of subjective well-being than the affective dimension. Two hundred and twenty five participants took part in the current study. They represented a random sample of Polish population aged 21 to 59 with an average age of 35.5 years. The findings showed that spirituality was associated with life satisfaction, i.e. the cognitive dimension of subjective well-being and sense of coherence. Sense of coherence turned out to be a partial mediator in the relationship between spirituality and the cognitive dimension of subjective well-being. In contrast, no mediational effects were found for the affective dimension.
