The analysis of full-scale fire tests in tunnel data is performed by comparison with numerical results. It aims to describe and provide phenomenological interpretations to the thermal and velocity fields relevant to the fire tests. The main three-dimensional fluid structures associated to the fire zone are characterised downstream. The large longitudinal axis vortical structures induced downstream of the fire as a consequence of the interaction of the gravity effect and transverse temperature gradients are described. A phenomenon observed on most of the thermal fields is the inversion of these longitudinal axis vortices. Thermal stratification is described upstream as well as the two-dimensional backlayering development, The transient flow is also shown. The comparison of a full-scale experiment with a numerical simulation in Richardson similitude appears interesting.
