摘要
In this paper, we present a system to estimate the health of a lead-acid car battery and warn the driver of upcoming battery failure in the near future. Most existing lead-acid battery state of health (SOH) estimation systems measure the battery impedance by sensing the voltage and current of a battery. However, current sensing is costly for parts and/or labor. A method to estimate SOH by sensing the battery voltage during a cranking event was proposed. Our system intends to improve a previous method. It measures the battery voltage during a cranking event, processes critical voltage points to estimate the SOH of the battery, and warns the driver of a potential upcoming failure.
