摘要
The present study analyzes the massive use of electricity for the heating of water in the residential sector, the fact that the heating of bath water with electric showers is a technology developed in Brazil and, in most countries; this function is usually performed by the gas. This discussionis justified centrally because electricity has ceased to be abundant as in the past and by the urgent need to rationalize the use of this noble energy. The objective of this article is to discuss the technological barriers to the use of combustible gases through a qualitative analysis using the SWOT methodology to analyze the replacement of electric showers by gas heaters for water heating. The present work also highlights the positive externality of minimizing the need to build new large hydroelectric plants, and, indirectly, mitigates the usually correlated considerable socio and environmental impacts.
