摘要
An electrodynamic method based on azimuthally asymmetric cavities is proposed to provide a small frequency tuning in terahertz gyrotrons. The use of a cavity with a "close-to-circular" cross-section possessing small azimuthal inhomogeneities improves the selectivity of excitation of a high-cyclotron-harmonic wave. A small mechanical change of the transverse shape of this cavity changes the frequency of the operating wave with no affect on its transverse structure and rotation, and, therefore, on the electron-wave interaction.
