AWARENESS ON WAXES IN PROSTHODONTICS AMONG DENTAL STUDENTS

BACKGROUND: Waxes are used in dentistry in both therapeutic and laboratory procedures.There are various types of waxes available, but the most significant feature is that waxes are thermoplastic in nature that are strong at room temperature but are melted without decomposition to form fluids. Dental waxes are used in many dental treatments, such as wax designs for inlays, crowns, full dentures and partial dentures. They are also very useful for capturing bite impressions and edentulous parts of the oral cavity. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Self administered questionnaire was designed On the topic "AWARENESS ON WAXES IN PROSTHODONTICS AMONG DENTAL STUDENTS" The questionnaire was distributed through a google forms link and the result was statistically analysed with spss software . The study population also included 147 dental students Results: Above 58% of participants were aware that expansion property leads to misfit of waxes. 29.9% of participants were aware that shrinkage property leads to misfit of waxes. Majority of the participants 53.1% are aware that blended wax has a wide range of melting Conclusion The present study concludes that there is a moderate awareness on waxes in prosthodontics among dental students
