DNA modification and cancer - Spectral study of bleomycin-DNA interaction

摘要
Cancer research is one of the main subjects of clinical medicine, pharmacology and biochemistry. The study of the interaction between antitumor drugs and DNA is of great significance for this research focus. The binding of bleomycin, a potent chemotherapeutic antibiotic, to calf thymus DNA is investigated using absorbance measurements and the results are rationalized in terms of literature models, taking into account both 1:1 drug-DNA system and cooperativity effects. The binding constant of bleomycin to DNA (K) was determined using Benesi-Hildebrand, Scott, Scatchard and Schwarz-Watanabe methods.
